1)Target Population/Data The target population I plan to focus on this year is our second grade ESL students.I plan to use Tier 3 intervention reading programs in both target time push-in and reading room pull-out to build their phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension development. The data I will use is based on the Universal Screening (AIMS-WEB) fluency measures in both early literacy and WCPM (TELs and R-CBMs).I will progress monitor the students based on their level in reading for Aims-Web and use Unit tests and check out measures in the reading programs they are being instructed with. This will help me determine if they have been placed in the appropriate program and changes can be made to increase support or change to an alternative program.
2) SMART Goal (Specific/Measurable/Attainable/Realistic/Time Bound) Our second grade ESL students will increase to the targeted norm in phonics/phonemic awareness and fluency by Spring 2010. Target Goals: LNF(Letter Name Fluency) 59 sounds correct per minute LSF(Letter Sound Fluency) 44 SCPM PSF (Phoneme Segmentation Fluency) 53 SCPM
NWF (Nonsense Word Fluency) 62 WCPM R-CBM (First Grade) 59 WCPM Fluency checks in Sidewalks and Reading Mastery will assess their fluency as well.
3) How does this goal relate to the book/our study of English Language Learners? This goal will focus on the areas of need for our ESL population in second grade so that we can build their phoneme knowledge, vocabulary, and fluency to become proficient in the area of reading.
4) Content/curriculum areas that I will focus on RELA:phonics/phonemic awareness, vocabulary, and fluency
